Both of these poems were translated by Steven D Carter’s Haiku Before Haiku. He noted that the rich and varied colors of autumn leaves are often compared to the look of brocade and that Noa’s writing evokes the image of Maiden of Tatsuta, a mythological creature associated with weaving, dyeing, and autumn leaves.
